This course explores financial decision-making, building on the concept of the time value of money, and risk, and covers corporate finance aspects related to taxation and financial markets. Students will become acquainted with essential issues of corporate finances, will learn how to make operational and investment financial decisions, and acquire good practice in financial reporting.

Learning outcomes:
Expert knowledge; you should be able to:

- define managerial finance and corporate objectives.

- explain the role of financial markets and list and characterise various bonds and financial derivatives.

- select appropriate sources of financing.

- outline the financing of investment projects and the associated risks.

- outline essential issues of small and medium-sized business financing.

- characterise dividend policy and its effects on market prices.

Expert skills; you should be able to:

- propose an appropriate source of financing and give reasons for its benefits.

General competences; you should be able to: :

- communicate clearly and in a professional manner about corporate finance.
Input knowledge:
Knowledge of essential Company Economics, Accounting, and Financial System is assumed.
Learning activities and teaching methods:
Seek out the recommended materials at the start of the semester. Participate actively in tutorials. Handouts and other materials provided by the lecturer may not cover the entire scope of the subject presented and are not intended to substitute for tutorials. Assignments are not mandatory (although strongly recommended), and are to be completed after each tutorial session and review of readings. While preparing for the final test, be sure to revise the entire subject covered.
